MONDIA SWISS | May 15, 2026

Time is not merely what we measure on the dial of our timepieces. Time is a layering of stories, courage, and visions. There are moments when the past ceases to be a memory and becomes a compass. For Mondia Swiss, that moment is today.

We are proud to announce the birth of the Archive Series, an unprecedented editorial and collectible project that will accompany us for the next ten years, on a journey both backward and forward in time, until we reach the legendary milestone of our centenary in 2035.

The Choice of 1953: The Eclipse of Mechanics and Flight

To inaugurate this journey, we delved into the heart of our archives in La Chaux-de-Fonds, unearthing a gem that perfectly embodies the spirit of an era. It is an advertising illustration from 1953. Look closely.

In those years, the world looked to the sky with a mixture of awe and wonder. Aviation was not just transportation; it was the pinnacle of human defiance of the laws of physics.

In the image we chose as Volume I of our series, a jet cuts across the sky on a diagonal trajectory through the clouds, aiming for infinity. Beneath it, the curvature of the earth reminds us of the global scale of our ambitions.

At the center of this dynamism, almost as if protecting it, stands a Mondia Automatic watch. It is a powerful image: Swiss precision guaranteeing the reliability needed to conquer the skies.

That "Mondia" logo, with its dynamic lettering and an underline that looks like a takeoff trail, is not just a brand; it is a declaration of intent. It represents an era when "Swiss Made" meant being part of the global technological vanguard.

A Manifesto in Ten Acts: The Road to 2035

The Archive Series is not a one-off publication. It is a solemn commitment we make to our community.

We have decided to launch 10 editions, one each year, to celebrate the last decade separating us from our century of existence.

Each edition will be a chapter unto itself, a fragment of the "database of beauty" we have built from 1935 to today.

This first series dedicated to 1953 is our "Departure Flight." By following us, you can assemble a collection of graphics and stories that trace the evolution of taste, advertising, and watch design.

Imagine owning, in ten years, the entire sequence: a physical anthology of Mondia Swiss heritage, numbered and certified.

The Matter of History: Postcards and Parchments

For us, history must be tangible. We do not want these images to remain confined to the pixels of a screen.

For this reason, we have transformed the 1953 advertising into collectible art objects, available from today in the Archive Series section of our official website.

  • The Postcards (Edition 1 of 10): A limited run of 500 copies. But there's more. We believe that every new owner of a Mondia watch should receive a piece of this history. Therefore, every online purchase made on our official store will be accompanied by the numbered postcard of this first edition as a gift. A direct link between the new timepiece on your wrist and the roots of the parent company.

  • The Framable Parchments: For those who wish to bring the spirit of Le Locle into their home or office, we have created 100 large-format numbered parchments. These are faithful reproductions, designed to enhance the grain of the original 1953 drawing. Domestic museum pieces for those who understand that watchmaking is, first and foremost, culture.

The Database of the Future: Upcoming Challenges

As we launch this first series, our offices are already buzzing with research. The images you see scrolling in this article are just a tiny fraction of the treasure we are cataloging.

We have unearthed sketches from the 1940s, pop explosions from the 1970s, and minimalist campaigns from the 1980s. This database is our gold mine. Every historical AD we select is chosen not just for its beauty, but for the story it has to tell. Some of these graphics will form the basis for future editions of the Archive Series, while others might even inspire the physical reissues of historical watches that we are already working on.

A Bridge Between Styles: From Classic to Neon

As a testament to the vitality of our archive, we wanted to play with the 1953 image, transporting it into parallel dimensions.

In the graphic elaborations you see at the bottom of this piece, the Mondia aviator crosses different styles: from the sharp lines of action comics to Pop Art, all the way to a futuristic vision illuminated by neon.

These experiments are not merely aesthetic exercises. They demonstrate that Mondia's DNA is universal.

These experiments are not merely aesthetic exercises. They demonstrate that Mondia's DNA is universal. An icon born in 1953 is so robust that it can be reinterpreted without ever losing its identity. This is the same principle we apply to our watches: the movement can evolve, the design can be refined, but the soul remains the same.

Conclusion: Come Aboard

The Archive Series is your invitation to officially enter the history of Mondia Swiss. It is not just collecting; it is an act of belonging. Owning the first 1953 postcard means saying: "I was there when the countdown to the centenary began.".
